Yakety Yak

A lot of opinions being expressed about my video on the I Am An Ex-Mormon website.

Apparently I am full of it (cause Mormons are the bomb.com) and am a lying, bashing, very confused individual that should seek some help because I obviously didn't get very much love as a child.

Huh. Good to know.

I'd like to refer y'all to the quote at the top of this blog. "For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible." I would never in a million years expect anyone to understand me.

Unless, of course, they do.

I left a comment on it. There's really nothing that can be said to the true believers. It's like all logic is suddenly gone. There is no understanding... however, there is, and this is best part, no reason not to have a great laugh when people tell you that you should come back, that you are not really happy (even when you just said so), and that they will pray for you. All of these brought a smile to my face. I hope you were laughing as well. It's like they're trying to console you, to advise you, to manipulate you, yet you are the last person on earth that needs any of these things! haha

Ignore all those negative comments. God (if he exists) loves you just the way you are. I your "I'm an ex-Mormon" video was fantastic.

Being a fellow Utahn, I totally loved your video, and know exactly how you felt. Those others that are self-righteous need to get a life.

Laughing? Oh, yeah. I threw my head back and guffawed out loud. Unbelievable. The funny thing is that I almost forgot how it is / they are. This is nothing though. When my book is out they are going to come after me with pitchforks. Good thing I am fairly hillbilly proof at this point.

Ooo... Hillbilly Proof. I feel a blog coming on...

Emily,
I just saw your video and loved it! You truly are a beautiful being in every sense of the word. You radiate light and joy! I am so happy to call you a friend!

Poo on them. It's nothing new to learn that Mormons don't like to hear negative things said about Mormonism.
I would like to know more about when and what made you make that final decision to exit. Perhaps you've already blogged about it before.

This makes me love you more and more. I posted your video on my facebook because it sums up exactly how I feel about leaving the church and got lots of positive responses about it. I think all the negative people kept their comments to themselves since facebook isn't anonymous. Haha.

i just caught up on the comments over there and just had to say, how much do i love your mother?? bless her heart, if all mormons could model themselves after carol lynn pearson, we would not even be having this conversation right now. you are so lucky, emily, and its no wonder you are the beautiful and honest person you are.

Thank you so much for the video.

As a middle age man recently divorced by his TBM wife primarily for not believing the Church is much of what it claims to be, your video was soul warming.

The ending was beyond wonderful!
