8 Opens Nationwide In Select Theaters This Weekend


Yep, it's finally time!!! 8:The Mormon Proposition opens tomorrow in select theaters and VOD. This is the latest info I have but CHECK YOUR LOCAL LISTINGS as dates, times and theaters have been changing. Here in SLC there will be Q&As at The Tower. I will be there Sunday and (a big, fat maybe but not at all for sure) on Friday.

Saw it. Liked it. FYI, there were about 20 people (it was a small theater - maybe 60-80 seats) at the one o'clock matinee on Saturday.

The last 20 minutes were especially poignant. While the film is propaganda, I think it is a valuable and important story that needs to be told. I did not find it inflammatory, though the score felt a bit too manipulative at times -- I tend to think that if I notice the score in the moment, it's probably too heavy-handed.

I thought you were an excellent talking head, Em, especially in the bit about Stuart Matis, and your mother was fantastic as always (as was Trevor Southey). The film elicited a few chuckles from my co-watchers, presumably regarding Mormon folk doctrines about celestial sex (some may say official doctrines, but whatever).

Just came in from seeing 8. I cried! A lot. Well done. I hope the people on the fence see it. That's clearly where it will have the most effect. Well done, Em. Well done, Reed.
