I'll bet she doesn't care about gay marriage because she isn't married to a gay man. (as opposed to the possibility of ever had been married to a gay man...that first marriage surely did go away pretty quickly and quietly, didn't it?) I got from her comments that everyone deserves the same "civil rights". Some argue that the right to marry/be legally united is not protected by statute. Well kids, California's Supreme Court makes their decision Tuesday. Any bets? anonymous in CA
I admire the fact she is supporting her daughter. But, I do wonder, as stated above, can this get her in trouble with the church? I would hope we have all evolved enough that it is okay to support ones children regardless! I myself, with my penticostal raising, support Gay marriage...we live in America, everyone should feel freedom!
She shows a curious sort of cold and emotionless detachment to her daughter. I can't have been easy for her daughter growing up. Marie's is a strange dichotomy between "believing in the Bible" and civil rights for Americans. In other words, her daughter has the right to pursue life as she pleases her in this country but such joy is not available to her in the "Bibleworld" of eternity. What?? Talk about throwing your kid under the bus!
I think it is safe to say that Marie Osmond is not emotionally invested in her kids. If this was happenning 20 years ago then she wouldn't have been as open to the gay life style. Currently however, she is just as aware as the rest of the country that the people who supported gay rights will be viewed as heros by history, and the people who opposed it will be viewed as bigots.
In my opinion, Marie's apparent support of gay rights is a career move.
I'm not a fan of Marie, but to call her "not emotionally invested in her kids" is a pretty judgemental statement--unless, of course, you are one of her kids.

I bet she's not in favor of gay marriage though.
Won't she get excommunicated for such heresy?
