Ssssssweet Dreams

My friend M. came into to town from New York and spent the evening with us last night. Get this: he has a friend that has a pet boa constrictor. Kinda gross, my brother had one when we were growing up (named it Emily - the sweetheart), but no big deal, a lot of people like and own snakes. But this woman lets hers sleep in her bed! She sleeps in bed with a freaking boa constrictor! When asked if she thought that was a good idea she responded, "No, its great. He just stretches out, totally straight and stiff, next to me. He's really sweet."

A little concerned, he asked another friend that is a snake expert if this was a safe thing to be doing and he responded with an immediate, "Tell her to stop doing that! The snake is measuring himself against her and as soon as he's as long as she is he's going to kill her!"

OMG - seriously? How does someone NOT know NOT to sleep in bed with a boa constrictor??? Here she is thinking, "Night sweet lil snaky snake, you warm enough? Here let me fluff your pillow one more time." And he's all, "One...more...inch and she'ssssss mine."

DUH!

Wow, some peoples kids...

An adult human is too big for a boa costrictor to swallow whole. (Babies and small dogs are another question.) Your friend's friend isn't in danger.

I'm with you on the gross out factor though.

On the one hand people sleep with their dogs and cats all the time and most people don't think anything of it.

On the other hand sleeping with a snake seems a little strange even to me who owns several snakes including boas. I suppose if my heat went out and I needed to keep them warm but on a nightly basis... Yeah, no.

A boa can't swallow a human, but it can certainly strangle one. A woman in Virginia was just killed by her pet this week. She was trying to give it medicine.
