Talk About Extraordinary

Don't you love it when you are hanging on by a thin thread, at the end of your rope, lips barely above water and you are safely caught or thrown a life preserver? Actually, while that is how I have felt for quite a while now - my pillow and blanket sitting beside my oven just waiting for me to crawl in, the past few days have been considerably better so I was already beginning to get some color back in my cheeks when, today, I get the best news I have gotten in recent memory...

There is a non-profit, professional (equity contracted) theatre company called ArtsPower that chooses several children's books a year, creates entire musical productions around them and tours the USA and Canada, performing for huge numbers of elementary schools that attend the shows as field trips.

And, yes - by now you've probably guessed it, they chose my book Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed to base a musical on that will tour nationwide! How totally and completely incredible is that??? For now that's all I know - more details will come as I get them.

Ordinary Mary: The Musical.

Holy shit!

Three questions. Looking at the ArtsPower website, it looks like they have their 2008/09 season scheduled. So will your book will be part of their 2009/10 line-up? Also, I'm hoping that this group's 'non-profit' status doesn't mean 'no profit' for you. And... do you have plans to write more children's books- perhaps using Extraordinary Mary as an ongoing character in future stories?
