Welcome to my wild ride.

I'm Emily Pearson and welcome to my big, fat blog.

What is Dancing With Crazy?

Dancing With Crazy is the title of the memoir I have been writing for nearly 4 years. It is the true story of my personal derailment, both horrifically and humorously demonstrating what happens when mindless obedience to religious authority supersedes plain old common sense.

As a young Mormon girl I gave up my own personal power, relinquished the ability to think for myself, and allowed myself to blow with a wind that carried me from studying scriptures in the Sunday School classes of correctly clothed, righteous descendants of Mormon pioneers, to studying porn on San Francisco’s Castro Street with my gay father and half naked drag queens, to drowning in depression in a stinky apartment in Hollywood, to puking in the toilet of a courting polygamist, to eventually marrying a gay man myself in a Mormon Temple. After nearly losing my mind several times over, I began to disentangle myself from toxic and narcissistic personalities, walked away from a crippling religion, and finally learned to think, act and live for myself.

Dancing With Crazy is both heartbreaking and heart warming – an inspiring story filled with religious fundamentalists, transvestites, AIDS, love, abuse, obsession, visions, cock socks, sex, Satan and salvation.

So, that's my book. That's my life. That's me. In a nutshell.
